Paros Wedding | Miranda & Andrew
When a Canadian girl and an Australian boy fall in love and decide to get married, it is tough to decide where to celebrate the wedding. With families and friends literally in different corners of the world, a destination wedding halfway between makes perfect sense. But there is also another special element to Miranda & Andrew’s decision to get married in Greece… Andrew’s mum is Greek, but as the youngest she was the only one of her siblings not to be born in Greece, and she has never been able to visit this beautiful country.
It was a scorching hot day on Paros, and as we were making our way to Kanales, where everybody was getting ready, we naturally had to stop for a refreshing Greek frozen yoghurt – it would’ve been rude not to. Once we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by big smiles all round as we were introduced to family and friends. It was very visible that they were a very close-knit bunch. Whilst Miranda was having her hair done we took some photos of the bride and groom’s attire, with the hotel offering some beautiful backdrops for said photos. Back in the rooms, bridesmaids, groomsmen and family each took turns opening their cards written by Miranda and Andrew – some moving and emotional messages that, very obvious to see, meant a lot to each and everyone.
They opted for a beach wedding – feet in the sand and under the blue Greek skies. So once everybody was dressed and ready we headed over to Santa Maria beach, where a stunning wedding arch was waiting for the couple. Once all the guests were seated and Andrew nervously waiting on the beach, Miranda made her way across the beach on the arm of her dad. As she came walking down the aisle, I realised why there was a little wooden crate with tissues on the beach – not a dry eye I tell you! After some readings by Andrew’s sisters and Miranda’s brother (who by the way was the stand in “mate-of-honour”), it was time for the vows. Very personal, meaningful and powerful vows. Again – not a dry eye in the house!
Following the ceremony it was family and couple photo time, after which we moved in to Nava Lounge for drinks and dinner. With everybody’s tummies full and energised, it was time for the first dance. Miranda’s brother plays in a band back in Canada, Birds of Bellwoods, and Andrew’s sister’s fiance is also a performing musican. So it was only fitting that Adrian and Nicholas performed the song for the first dance. And then the party started! DJ Kostas was behind the decks pumping out one tune after the other that kept the dance floor full. The only time I saw it was empty was when I turned around to find everybody on the beach and in the ocean!
As always, it has been a great pleasure to be part of such a wonderful and happy day. Enjoy the photos – make sure you scroll all the way down to the party photos. They will put a smile on your face 🙂
